Card Tech - Chain Disappearance

Chain Disappearance
Normal Trap Card
You can only activate this card when a monster with an ATK of 1000 or less is Normal Summoned, Flip Summoned or Special Summoned. Remove the monster from play and your opponent removes all monsters of the same name in his/her hand and Deck from play. His/her Deck is then shuffled.

Here is a card that not only I but a few others think will be a new tech card for their side decks. Chain Disappearance is an excellent trap, it allows you to activate it when a monster with 1000 or less attack is summoned, whether it be normal, flip or special summon, and remove it from play, it also forces the opponent to remove all copies of the removed card from their hand and deck from play as well. Now if you are a new player you may be wondering; "What cards would I really use this for"? Well that's actually a good question, what would you use it for. Lets look at the past Shonen Jump Championship shall we? The winner was Jeff Jones, running his Quickdraw Dandywarrior deck. The name alone already gives you two monsters that Chain Disappearance can touch, Quickdraw Synchron and Dandylion. But there are also some various others, because some of these decks actually run cards such as Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter, Cyber Valley, Battle Fader and Debris Dragon which are all highly played or see more play than other cards that Chain Disappearance affects. There are lower cards, like Black Salvo and Treeborn Frog that see play too in some decks, just decks that haven't topped/won a Shonen Jump Championship in a long time. But that is besides the point, Chain Disappearance can take care of basically every low attacking monster that any opponent runs, it can even take care of Fluff tokens once their summoned, preventing them from being used for Quickdraw Synchron or any other reason. Look into the future, which is now only 3 days away, The Shining Darkness comes out this weekend on May 1st and 2nd, releasing cards like XX-Saber Darksoul which adds some much broken support to the X-Saber deck. There are a lot of cards that Chain Disappearance can remove putting the opponent in a tough situation, especially if you remove one of their cards that is a part of their main strategy. Maybe you will try this card out in your side deck against Quickdraw players as well as some other decks like Blackwings, wouldn't hurt would it?

75th Shonen Jump Championship - Edison, NJ

Well, the weekend has passed and the "last" Shonen Jump Championship has passed with it. There are a few things here to be discussed, from the various decks that showed their faces to some of the news that has been announced and so on. So lets get to it, shall we?

First off I'd like to congratulate Jeff Jones on yet another Shonen Jump Championship win, kudos to you. His deck name, kinda lacking but hey its his choice, Quickdraw Dandywarrior. Since there isn't a Top 16 deck list up yet, I kind of can't go over his deck or anyone elses from the jump for that matter. However anyone who plays in the competitive scene should know what the deck at least looks like. Its pretty much based on abusing Dandylion, Debris Dragon and Quickdraw Synchron to spam the field with Fluff Tokens and spam with synchro monsters with the usual synchros as well as unique synchros like Drill Warrior and Junk Archer. The deck seems weird but at SJC Anaheim, Jones managed to pull off a SJC win with a deck that I don't think anyone really saw coming, which some would call Dark Drain Synchro. Now, there were some other unique and rather interesting decks. And before we get into discussion about them, their deck lists are not up on Konami's official site, but the articles are so you can at least read up what they had to say about the decks. Some of the more interesting decks from the jump were; Volcanic Garden, Geartown w/Machinas, Caliber Cat and a few Monarch decks. There were a few others but these caught my eye.

Volcanic Garden, is based around Volcanic Rocket, Blaze Accelerator, Black Garden and Don Zaloog, with some high defenders like Gravekeeper's Spy. Using Black Garden to halve his opponents monsters after having Don Zaloog out on the field to do some damage and force the opponent to mill two cards or discard a card. Volcanic Rocket, Blaze Accelerator and Volcanic Shell allows for easy passage of synchro monsters. Even halved they can still come close to taking out Don Zaloog. Colossal Fighter and Red Dragon Archfiend are both examples of synchro monsters that can easily match or get over Don Zaloog making it rather difficult for whoever uses the deck. Geartown with the Machinas teched, this is an idea I saw on YouTube a long time ago when the OCG got the Machina Mayhem Structure Deck so even I wanted to build it and try it myself. It also runs the Gadget monsters, thinning the deck and making it easier to make your aggressive moves. Its a deck that a lot of players have seen maybe on Pojo or ETC Forums or even DuelistGroundz, so its nothing too new, but it seeing play at Edison, well I just had to bring it up. Caliber Cat, this was actually surprising. It seemed to kind of contradict itself, but then again Gadgets use Doomcaliber Knight so it isn't a total surprise that another deck tries it. It managed to get into the top 16 so kudos for an interesting and new idea. Seeing Monarch decks in their deck analasis' was nice. The Monarch era was actually a lot of fun, though aggrivating to some. We all should know how Monarchs work, considering most of them remove cards from the field, whether destroying them or removing them from the game, Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch is the only Monarch that doesn't affect the field. Thestalos was one of the best Monarchs in its time, but with the upcoming The Shining Darkness set, Infernities will gladly lose their hand just to get their Infernities effects. Mobius, Caius and Raiza are the current favorites when it comes to Monarchs, Mobius being able to take care of two spell or trap cards on the field, Caius being able to remove any card on the field from play and Raiza being able to return a card on the field to the top of the owners deck. All very devastating effects. Of all those decks, the most interesting to me was the Volcanic Garden deck, very innovative and did well from what I saw, or at least I'd think it would, regardless again kudos to him for the innovative deck.

Now, since we've covered the decks that stood out for the most part, its onto some of the news that was announced at the jump. Perhaps one of the biggest announcements or at least one of the few big announcements, was what the future holds for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, and after I discuss this a link will be provided to their article about all of this. First, Edison was the biggest Shonen Jump Championship since the 50th jump, at least to my knowledge anyways. It was stated that Edison was the very last Shonen Jump Championship. Events of equal level, or you could say the future Shonen Jump Championships will be known as "The Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series" and the first one will be held in Virginia next month. This is bound to be a rather big event. They proceeded to discuss more about the Championship Series, its going to be a global program. Meaning instead of "Jump" events being strictly in the United States, they will now be held all over the world, this should make a lot of players happy and honestly Japan needs more competitive scene events like other countries, since some sites that put up OCG deck lists have some rather poor builds, yet you usually see at least one or two Japanese players at Worlds. I, as well as probably a lot of you are hoping to see coverage for these Championship Series tournaments from all over the world. Giving everyone more "unique" ideas regarding decks. The last announcement that was given was about the "YCS" prize cards for the new Championship Series tournaments. Instead of the usual 3 Ultra Rare versions of the current promo, only the winner will receive an Ultra Rare, second and third place will now receive Super Rare versions of the current promo card. Apparently there will also other news about the prizes given at these YCS events, but have yet to be announced so only time will tell.

This is about everything to cover most of this past weekend, what will the future hold? We'll just have to keep dueling till the new Yugioh Championship Series debuts!

Welcome!

So I know this won't be like the original Metagame.com but I want to try and bring some of those elements back that the original site gave to the Yu-Gi-Oh! community. Including their famous Deck Analysis, strategy discussion and so on. If this blogger becomes rather popular, we may actually have some more writers on here, and would hope to have some people who manage to go to a bunch of high level events that can try to do their own feature matches. If you would like to try that at your locals, feel free to send them to me. If you are interested message me and I will explain the things I'd like to see, and how things should work. Well thats all I really have to say for now. Expect articles and so on, so stay tuned and feel free to add my Myspace and message me on Youtube, which the links are above.
